Jonathan and Bonnie Rath

9/27/2010

Jonathan Rath joined Go Ye Ministries in 1997 and was sent out by Fellowship

Bible Church in 1998 to serve in Venezuela. The experience he gained from a senior missionary there, along with Bible school in Spanish and working in a church in Lagos de Moreno for seven years, have been the tools in preparing him for his current ministry in Mexico. Until earlier this year, hehad been serving in Pachuca, Hidalgo, Mexico since 2001. He has joined with T.I.M.E. for Christ Mexico Ministries as a liaison between the Mexican and American medical missions efforts in the Sierra Huasteca of Mexico. The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few.

Jonathan's vision to share the gospel and to make disciples of Christ started in his home as he visited with many missionaries that his parents would invite into their home. This vision grew and was nourished by his parents, the missions-minded leadership of Fellowship Bible Church and by missionaries like Bret Nazworth and Craig Landrum. The daughter of one of those visiting missionaries became his wife in June 2002. They have three children, Jonathan Allan (7/2/2003), Joanna Abigail (9/5/2004) and Jessica Ann (4/19/2009).

Jonathan continues to serve as the Evangelism Director for /with T.I.M.E. for Christ, Mexico Ministries. His ministry includes: coordinating the follow-up /discipleship of new believers that come to faith in Christ on the caravans. Encouraging the Mexican pastors and evangelists that serve with TIME on the medical caravans. Serving as a communication link between US and Mexican entities of TIME for Christ. Assist with the legal paperwork required of TIME by the Mexican government. Purchase the medicines, Bible’s and tracts needed for each medical caravan into Mexico. Assist in the selection of the villages where the medical caravan plans to serve in the future. Assist TIME as they modernize and seek to become a more effective and efficient ministry in Mexico. Assist TIME with the legal and logistical aspects of conducting medical mission trips into Mexico 2 times a year. Jonathan is an active member of the TFC,MM board and serves as a volunteer to help maintain the vehicle’s and the TIME storage facility in San Antonio.

While on the caravans Jonathan serves as a driver for the larger vehicles, an evangelists, a translator, logistics coordinator and as representative to the Mexican authorities. He helps take care of the many little details and emergencies that are associated with running a medical mission in Mexico.

Jonathan plans to make a trip down to Mexico in October (Oct. 21-31st) to visit the churches he has helped start in Lagos de Moreno, Jalisco and Ahuazotepec, Puebla. While in Mexico he also plans on checking up on the medicines he is responsible for purchasing for the upcoming winter caravan. He also plans to meet with the Mexican pastors and evangelists to coordinate the follow-up / discipleship for the medical caravan ministry.

In December of 2009 God led Jonathan and Bonnie to relocate their family to Texas. They continue to serve as missionaries to Mexico and also are reaching out to the people God puts in their lives in the U.S. Jonathan conducts evangelistic Bible studies on a weekly basis and is helping to encourage and disciple the men that have completed these Bible studies.
